Conoce a nuestros estudiantes

Our students are a remarkable group of young women. Passionate, kind, ambitious and hard working. We listen to them and we value what they tell us. We learn as much from them as they do from us.

So far, I’ve had the best experience. You always know you will get a great education, even when it gets tough. You can talk to your teachers if you are upset or something is bothering you. They always smile and say, ‘Have a nice day’.

If I was to describe myself in three words, I would say: resilient, kind, shy.

If I was to describe JCG in three words, I would say: unique, amazing, great.

In ten years’ time, I hope to be at university studying to become a doctor or a nurse.

JCG is known for being a very caring and vibrant environment and, having been here for almost seven years, I can confirm wholeheartedly that this is the case! The atmosphere on the Year 6 Open Evening and the Induction Days (which I still remember incredibly clearly) was very welcoming, and made me less nervous about my transition from primary to secondary school, although I was the only student from my primary school to join JCG in Year 7, which was scary, although looking back, in reality there was nothing to worry about.

Over the years, I have been academically challenged and pushed and this has made me a more adaptable learner with a wide range of interests. The teachers are incredible – they are so passionate about their subjects and cultivate a true love and appreciation of learning. My interest in history was sparked in Year 8 by a specific teacher and his enthusiasm and it has grown from there.

My experience at JCG has been one of laughter and fun, not without change and challenge but, most memorably, full of love and warmth.

Being a student at JCG has shown me that I am an independent young woman who is able to shape her own path, propose her own ideas and follow them! The emphasis at JCG on our power to change the world as individuals is something that will stay with me forever, but equally, I have learned to value and cherish everyone I meet in life.

I would tell a future JCG student to embrace every opportunity that you can at JCG. JCG will do everything in its power to support you, challenge you and to help you to discover your voice. Follow your own path, but be open to all the experiences that the school has to offer. For example, I never in my life thought I would be able to do my Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award, and it was a challenge, but once completed I was so proud and had learnt a lot about myself!

If I was to describe myself in three words, I would say: caring, positive, sincere

If I was to describe JCG in three words, I would say: home, vibrant, loving

In ten years’ time, I hope to be in a role that will enable me to help others, see the world and use my language skills. Of course, I would also like to be making lots of trips back to Jersey and JCG!
